| When looking at the passages for Easter, Mark 16:6-8 always hits me...
But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples--and Peter--that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you."
It's the "and Peter" part that gets me. The implications are huge. It is redemption within THE Redemption. Forgiveness and restoration within the ultimate act of Forgiveness and Restoration. And I often wonder how Peter felt when he had a chance to sit down and really hear exactly what happened in the tomb that morning... | | |
| OK! The question on the table today is, "What is it that I do for Disney?" Here's the long answer: I work in Walt Disney Global Entertainment in the Character Programs and Development Department. It can be best described by using an example...we'll take Jack Sparrow. Our VP decides which Characters will be developed into Characters based on Park, Cruise Ship, Resort, Premiere, Show, Special Events, or other needs. In this instance, the Parks are re-vamping "Pirates of the Caribbean" Ride, we are getting ready for the second film to open, and Entertainment is working on a possible show to go in the Parks, so it was decided to do a "Walk-Around" Jack Sparrow. We create the costume, make-up, wig, autograph, what he can and can't say, training, guidelines for usage, and documentation. From there, we provide help in casting the Character and implementation. As the project moves forward, we provide oversight to make sure the integrity of the Character is being maintained. We are Global, so we have the task of oversight and partnering with Florida, California, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Paris, Cruise Line, Walt Disney on Ice, Disney Live Family Entertainment, World of Disney Store in New York...on and on the list goes... We are also oversee Muppets. I usually attend all the meetings, make sure everyone is on the same page, create the boards and project timetables, direct photo shoots, assist with video shoots, help with observation and documentation...a bit of everything, really. Most of the people in my department have been with the Company 10+ years, so I am the new kid in town. I really love it, because each day is a little different and we are usually among the first to know about new, top-secret projects. The Mouse is Awesome! | | |
| Yep! THAT'S a great reason to stay single a bit longer... I'm going to Italy, Spain, France and Croatia this summer and I CAN'T WAIT! I'm going with my family and I'm totally excited. It will be my sister, brother, mom, dad, aunt and uncle. We haven't had a family vacation in a while, so this should be a blast. We are taking a Med. cruise for 12 days, but will fly to Rome 3 days before our ship leaves. It's getting me through all the day to day stuff quite nicely! Well, I'm off to a meeting about Jack Sparrow. I DO LOVE MY JOB!!!! | | |
| SO! Welcome to all my past buds who found my quaint little site. After seing all of you and hearing from you, I am overcome with nostalgia...and a sense of COMPLETE HORROR!!! Am I the ONLY one not married?! It seems that way. Yet, being single has its advantages. I remind myself of them at birthdays, holidays and when I find out that everyone I went to school with is blissfully wed...now let me see...where did I put that list? Oh yeah. Here it is. It is written on a gum wrapper and I still have room for a few more "perks" if anyone wants to send a few my way... I've included items like, "Can watch all the chick flicks I want", "Can lust for Johnny Depp without guilt", and "The dog laughs at ALL my jokes." I can't really prove that last one, but I can see it in his eyes...he thinks I'm a riot. | | |
| No one told me that working 60 hours a week would be normal. These are the things they DON'T tell you in school. All in all, though, I love what I do, so I guess that makes the difference.
For instance...I went to the Press Event for opening disney's new ride "Everest" yesterday. It is a great attraction! I saw Isabella Rosalini and that was completely cool! She was about 10 feet away from me and was classy as ever. Then there were other stars that I couldn't have cared less about (Brittany Spears and Joey-what's-his-name from N Sync). Those are the perks that keep ya going to work!
